Residents enjoying the Covid 19 lockdown

In a housing society in Worli, Mumbai, some people are enjoying the lockdown.
Maharashtra state has given power to the secretaries of the society to decide if any outsider can enter the irsociety building
In one society  of 280 apartments (flats) in Worli, south Mumbai, the secretary of the society appointed a committee of volunteers. The duties of the committee were as follows:
  • Food supply to the residents including fresh vegetables, Dairy products and other grocery items.

So the committee members did the following
  1. They sourced Vegetables and other produce from sahyadri, Nasik, etc (interior Maharashtra where the farmers grow food ).
  2. Price list is sent via whatsapp to every society member
  3. Society members place the order via whatsapp and make the payment online.
  4. Orders are placed to farmers
  5. Individual orders are packed in cartons by farmers  with the apartment number labeled on top of the carton.
  6. The boxes are delivered to the society via trucks
  7. Young volunteer boys and girls deliver the cartons to their respective apartments.
  8. Similarly milk cartons/Plastic milk bags are also delivered to the society members.
This way the society members by passed the middlemen, passing on the benefit to farmers

So the residents of the society are enjoying home delivered fresh food at reasonable prices without going out shopping.

Why do Indians resist paying taxes ?

Why do Indians resist paying taxes ?

Interesting thoughts on why Indian resist paying taxes, in an open letter to the Prime Minister.

Forwarded as received:

Dear Modiji,

This is what we honest citizens feel about our Governments - Central and State...

On behalf of professionals & businessmen, I am sending you some facts ..

Please try to unnderstand.

We are not doing Tax '"Chori"'... this is tax saving (a bit of evading too).

This is to ensure security of our family, kids and their future for any adversity.

1. We bought Generators/Inverter in our houses, because Govt. failed to provide constant electricity.

2. We installed submersible pumps, because Govt. failed to provide water.

3. We hired own security guards, because Govt. failed to provide security.

4. We send our kids to private schools, because Govt failed to provide good education in public schools.

5. We headed for private hospitals to avail proper care and treatment, because Govt. failed to provide good public hospitals.

6. We bought cars because Govt. failed to provide good transportation.

Finally.., what the tax payer gets in return at the retirement, when he needs most to survive ?

Nothing, no social security.

But instead all his hard earned income resource is used by Government to distribute subsidies and freebies in the name of welfare schemes among masses to buy "free votes" to those who don't pay any taxes.

Above all what Govt do with our (tax) money?

Open courts-which do not give judgement.

Open police station which works for politicians only and not protect citizens.

Open hospital which do not treat us well.

Build roads wherein 40-100% of money spent goes in vain due to corruption.

Endless list....

Like western democracies, if Indian Government could provide all the above, why would anyone save taxes ?

We all know that the major tax revenues collected from us are consumed by Government officials and politicians (billions of dollars are lying in foreign banks).

A manufacturer works at a margin of between 2% to 10% , whereas government needs 30% of his income to cover it's expenditure. How fair it is all ?

That's the reason no one wants to pay taxes.

We save taxes for our necessities, family, for our old age, for our safety, security and this phenomenon is the sign of failure of Government in discharging it's own functions fairly and efficiently. Government alone is responsible for this.😡

But on the other hand...

We challenge that if Govt announces that Rs.1000 crore is required for Indian Army or floods or earthquake victims !!!

The same amount will be deposited within couple of days by these "Tax Savers" only.

We will come forward with open hearts

Letter to Indian Prime minister

Dear P.M.
Shri Narendra Modi ji,

Namaskar !

Make this change and the country will recognize your leadership...

Life time pension accorded for one tenure of politicians - is gross injustice compared to the rest of the government servants who have to put in a minimum of 20 years of service. This is a drain on the public exchequer.

No one has been able to explain why young men &  women who serve in the Military for 20 years or more, risking their lives protecting our freedom get only 50% of their pay on retirement & Short Service Commissioned Officers who also risk their life for a term varying from 5-14 yrs - get ZERO retirement benefits after their assignment.

But Politicians who hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these very same men &  women, receive Full-Pay on retirement after serving just one term of 5 yrs. Does it make any sense ???

PM SIR, CHANGE THIS RULE AND THE NATION SHALL BE GRATEFUL TO YOU FOREVER...

Abolish, politicians' pension for life.

Just like you motivated common people to give up subsidy, motivate MPs to give up numerous undeserving exorbitant perks and subsidies granted unanimously by themselves, including pension.

And we hope it starts with yourself... You are a great motivator...

Thanking you in anticipation of a favourable response,

Yours sincerely...

[ If each person who receives this forwards it to 20 people, in 3 days, most people will have this message, and it may lead to a national campaign.

If you choose not to pass it on, you still have made a choice. These braveh soldiers have given you that right to "freedom" for which they pay dearly...! ]

Jai HIND!...

Kashmir

Deepak Kunte: FYI on behalf  of Our Trade Partner Mr Amit Kapil

APPEAL:
Dear Friends, I Just reached from pahalgam after a miserable life from Kashmir, we have started at journey at mid night, the entire roads either full of rocks, trees or broken till 70 kms from pahalgam. They burnt our Langer's, looted the people and even they made them nude, seriously they are not human they behaved like Zombie's.
The entire Kashmir community (exceptions are there) i am surprised to see hotelier n Taxi Union hate entire  Indian community, they thrown out our baggages from the hotels, no food, no water even to kids, they have forced people to say Hindustan Murdabad, Pakistan Zindabad. Both Kashmir n Central Govt. Police n CRPF are useless they don't have power to shoot a single bullet that what the people taking benefits, the only solution is Army to save the nation. Have you seen movie Airlift we lived life for 3 days like them, hats off to Langar Walo Ki who feed us otherwise we gave up. We were at base camp but on chargeable basis on high price even we paid for our transport from pahalgam to Delhi or Jammu no help to Srinagar, rescue ke naam pe ghanta, who don't have the money they are still there. Boycott Kashmir Tourism then they get to know the power of Indians, they are least bothered about Tourism, they said we don't want you and your tourism, these are the words from hotel n taxi people. You can't imagine how we spent our 3 days in hell so called Kashmir heaven on earth.

Change in India

Mark Tully, ex BBC Correspondent in his Book No Full Stops in India, while discussing about change writes ; “In India change takes some time, the birth will be slow and perhaps painful. I believe it could be the birth of a new order which is not held up by the crumbling colonial pillars left behind by the Raj but is GENUINELY Indian ; a modern order, but not a slavish imitation of other modern orders”.
He goes on to say that – “For all its great achievements, the Nehru dynasty has stood like a banyan tree overshadowing the people and the institutions of India, and all Indians know that nothing grows under the Banyan tree”.
As Mark said , Change will be slow and painful, therefore for someone who doesn’t read and makes judgement based on perception will for quite some time not be able to see the change taking place or will pretend as if nothing is changing. The way changes are coming in Railways, Power sector, Defense Production and in governance and at the same time accompanied by the resentment of the old forces indicate that the process of change has begun albeit slowly and is going to be painful.
Let us not undermine the capabilities of this termite ridden old Banyan tree which will still try its best to stop any one growing to the extent that it may even turn the soil upside down before falling down.
For a year or so we may witness more of Dadris, more of Kaniyahas, more of Owaisi style shouting but finally if the Society keeps its cool, acts maturely and continues to perform we will sail through and the old forces will die a natural death.

Mother Teresa's letter to Archbishop

Place: Asansol, India               Date: 25th January 1947

Mother Teresa wrote to Archbishop Periea seeking permission to begin work with the poorest of the poor (only a few lines are written below)

Your Grace,

The longing to give all to our Lord and make many souls do the same remains the same.

I am aware that if the work begins than there will be plenty of loneliness, suffering & humiliations for me.

I have been burning with longing to love Him as He as never been loved before.

Please excuse this paper as I have no other kind. I am practicing Franciscan poverty.
It is lovely to be poor and to be free from so many things.

Pray for me

Your devoted child in Jesus Christ

Mary Teresa
